Winners Announced-2024 Theories Design Contest

Yes, all good things must come to an end...and the Theories Design Contest has to eventually have a winner! We would love to keep things going and witness another 275 design entries roll through the door, but most of you would probably start showing up with pitch forks and torches and demanding us to pick a winner.

We'll get you your winners but let me first start by sincerely thanking you all for creating and submitting your work to the contest! The response was amazing with so many truly incredible entries. After a multi-day heated debate in the TOA office it nearly erupted into an all out brawl as we fought for our favorites to make it into the top 3. In the end, we turned to your Instagram comments on Friday's post announcing the 10 finalists, and used that feedback to narrow down our decisions. And now, believe it or not, the final list is complete. We chose the top 3 winners and also wanted to list our 3 honorable mentions for those who very nearly took one of the top 3 spots.

1st PLACE: FLACIDO PLACIDO (@flacido.placido)
This Italian designer's work stood out as being so truly unique we just couldn't stop thinking about it. This wild graphic will be part of a future Theories collection as a deck, tee and hoodie and Flacido will receive $250 in store credit off the TOA web store!

2nd PLACE: AUSTIN STANLEY (@austinstanley.art)
This design was amongst the favorite of many Theories team riders and TOA employees alike. It's so unique it was hard to compare it to other designs. Austin wins a $100 credit for the TOA web store.

3rd PLACE: CHARLOTTE TEGEN (@charlottetegen)
Charlotte's design was an early favorite to most of the Theories team riders and it held strong through the whole contest. It's eye-catching yet simple and feels very on-brand for Theories. Charlotte wins a Mystery Box from the TOA webstore.

1st RUNNER UP: JOHN COW (@johncowart)
Although it ultimately didn't end up in the top 3, John Cow's design was a favorite from the beginning of several TOA team riders and employees. It fits within a skateboard's dimensions very nicely which might mean we could see it again in the future.

2nd RUNNER UP: CHARLOTTE TEGEN (@nanjya_kanjya)
Japanese artist Keita Kosegi created a bunch of super unique and on-brand designs during the 2 week design contest. We had a really hard time picking our favorite. This was only one of them, but make sure to check out his IG account to see the rest.

3rd RUNNER UP: JOAO PARISOTTO (@_joaoparisotto)
Finally, we extended the honorable mentions to 3 designers because we just HAD to include Joao's super-eerie design in our list. This image is haunting and leaves you wanting to know more. It really gives off a Theories vibe and we love it.

Thank you SO SO much to everyone that participated in this years design contest. Obviously, we have to disappoint a LOT of people when we receive nearly 300 submissions, but trust us, we were overwhelmed by how talented and rad you guys are as designers and creators. We MIGHT be reaching out to you on the side to use your work for a future Theories catalog so be on the lookout in your DM's.
