Time machine: #10:Sean Mullendore
Pretty much every time somebody asks me how the Static series got started, I usually tell the story of seeing Sean Mullendore skate in the Tampa Am contest in the late '90s and how it got me sparked to ask him to do a part.
I was going through some old VHS mixes recently and came across a random piece of one of Sean's contest runs from around 1997. It's really short, but it's still pretty sick.

Little off topic, but anyone see the Zoo vid yet? Forrest Kirby and Eli Reed fuckin killed it.

Shooting photos was always frustrating because you’re a lot less involved. It involves a lot more sitting around and being inactive. That drives me crazy.
I still shoot from time to time, but lugging photo gear around the city along with my video shit is just an absolute nightmare. So it’s a bit of a rarity these days.
Yeah, FORE’s part was real tight.
I was stoked to see him finally get some much-deserved attention. Dude is amazing.
Eli’s part was off the chain. I just wasn’t a fan of his song.
And I think Westgate probably should’ve had last part. I liked Eli’s part the most, but Westgate probably had the overall gnarliset part. Zered was really impressive as usual, but it woulda’ been sick to see somebody get the last part for once.
But good call, FORE and Eli got my votes as well.

Nike vid was pretty good. I didn’t know if I was ready for a full HD video, but Nike/Jason Hernandez didn’t do a bad job. VX1 just has a good look for skateboarding. Everyone skated good but Grant Taylor, David Clark, and Justin Brock were probably my favorites. Anyone else watch that shit?

Ahhh the good old days. Those contest were so fun! the set up at tampa was amazing back then. i think that was the same contest that the Theorizer made it to the finals.
I had never seen the first Static vid till recently and saw the Theorizer’s tre over the rail into that bank, and now Theorizer in the FINALS?! When did the skate career turn into the film career?
