Josh, like bryce said, the situation blows. But in all honesty, theres only one thing to say, WOW! Static III is gonna ridiculous!
Shit looks so good. Im genuinely psyched on skating right now and its only the trailer! Im gonna go watch it a few more times and go skate a parking garage.

You have done so much for the east coast skate scene and you are pretty much the last standing dude that actually gives a shit about the downhill slope skating is taking. I just want to say thank you for your determination and love of skating’s art and individualism. Good luck with the rest of this video, the promo looks sick as all hell. Good choice with Nate, that dude is way to underrated, and Pat stiener has such a sweet style and trick selection.

wow. i just saw this on youtube and it made me sick. not the promo, but the fact that such a good promo is on youtube. seriously, wheres the shock factor or suprise in videos these days? dont bother going to the skateshop to pick it up, just wait a week and some low life (atmurrell) will spoil it on his youtube account. for what its worth, im buying your video. youve worked too hard to deserve this, and not to mention that this is your job. i will do what i can to control the lurking and ill report videos if needed. hopefully i dont sound like im riding your dick, but this had me enraged….

Thanks guys…and I really appreciate the concern and support over the Youtube issue. As far as the trailer goes, it’s a bummer that people are seeing such a low-res version on the youtube viewer, but atleast more people are seeing it that way. And my server is so goddamned slow that I can’t blame some people for searching for another option. But I figured it’s better to offer a really clean version on this site since I knew the shit would end up on YT within seconds. I got shredded on the SLAP boards for chiming in to scold the dude that snuck into my site and posted the trailer before I launched it. And they’re right in that I shouldn’t be pissed since the trailer is just for promotional purposes. But it’s weak to fuck with somebody’s project before they’ve finished it. Anyone that can’t understand that will never listen to what any of us says anyways.
But when the actual video comes out that’s a totally different story. I seriuosly will need all the help I can get to keep it off YouTube 100%. My life depends on it…some serious loans need to be paid back. So I’ll ask ATMurrell, BobGnarly and whoever else is renown for posting stuff on YT to please spare me on this one. Company films are there to promote a product and a team. My videos are 100% independent and this is my only “job”. I took a serious risk making another video and if I lose my ass on this one because of YouTube I’ll seriously be working at Wendy’s before Halloween.
Thanks for all the nice words though…it showed me the light at the end of the tunnel of stress I’ve been stuck in for ages with this project.

The trailer is amazing, better than any of the full lenght videos I’ve seen for months, years…Watching it drives me in this kind of state in which I can’t think about anything else but go skating the streets.
As a french skater I’m really proud to see that Soy has a part among these amazing skateboarders, it shows that the real street skaters aren’t only from the Esat coast or London.
I can’t wait for the release.
PS : I think you should pay attention to what Pierre (message 21) said, IRC can be as dangerous as Youtube. In France most of the skaters download videos here. The Element video was downloadable one day after the official release…

I know that these have been a bigger problem in Europe than Youtube and that it has killed video sales in most of Western Europe. But how can it be stopped? Is it even possible to do anything about it?

I think IRC is a bit more complex than a simple peer to peer sharing programm. Actually I don’t know how it works, but I do know that you can get videos with a rather good qualities, and, even the small videos of little unknown shops…Maybe Pierre knows how to prevent such a problem…
Actually I think that most of the people who will download Static 3 wouldn’t buy a copy if they couldn’t find it on the internet. Because if they were really interested in it, they should know all the difficulties that a independent filmaker has to face, and they would probably make the effort to buy a copy (I don’t know if I’m making myself really clear…) More often they are kids who download everything they could, and who only keep the Baker and Flip videos on their computers…

I hate to tell you Josh, but Static I and II was pirated a long time ago, and has been downloadable in perfect hi-res DVD format for years now. IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, and the transfer method they use is DCC, basically it’s just like a peer to peer but you can talk to the chat room and request things, etc. It works off of each computer acting as a server, and transferring back and forth… There’s individual channels for just Skate Videos, and there’s pretty much anything you could imagine all the way back to H-Street VHS rips. There’s no way to combat it, even with anti-piracy encoding on your DVD’s. It sucks, but it’s the reality of it all… Best bet is getting more distributors for the video that way more copies make it out into the shops.
