VIVIEN FEIL VS BRIAN DELATORE
Another game of SKATE, coming at you this time from Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan.
Today we have a matchup between a couple of recent Theories “Versus” victors. At the suggestion of a friend, I started this game off filming fisheye. But after discovering the lens looked like it’d been recently sneezed on by a bison, a change back to long lense mode. Right then, let’s see what happens……

Seriously, you’re gonna let this dude shovel this bullshit down your throat? Games of skate are bullshit. They’re meaningless and have no relevance in the tradition of what it means to be a recognized skateboarder using the medium of video. It’s complete bullshit. It’s a total smack in the face to people who actually work hard to a.) keep the medium of filming and video alive as a traditional and canonical medium, but also to b.) kids who actually go out there and look for spots for their exposure and only use the medium of filming for that one specific purpose, instead of subjecting themselves, usually with no objection, and most of the time, actually welcoming the illegitimate exposure, in these mindless contests that are posted as an actual representation of the medium. It’s total bullshit. And you’d think that the one dude who pride’s himself in being this voice and savior of “underground” and “street” skateboarding, would be involved in garbage like this. Demand more from this dude if this dude is going to represent your voice and be in a position of influence over the newer generations of skateboarders. Take this shit seriously? You’re absolutely right I do. The problem seems to be that you don’t. This shit is just more filler pollution, just like 95 percent of the shit on the in skateboarding and on the internet these days. Personally, it pains me and is pathetic to see you engaged in this type of behavior. But doesn’t surprise me at all. I always fear someone who claims to be something and that is the best way to set yourself up for failure. Once you become so desperate, it’s hard to turn back.

Ok, how about instead of games of skate, Theorizer posts footage of a new spot no-one has ever seen on video before. Each week, a trick that has never been done at the aforementioned spot. But it has to be in New York. Would that be better than a game of skate-post Towel?
Comment by Bob Sackamano # October 25, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Wait, what type of skateboarding post could possibly occur on this site that you wouldn’t complain about?
Comment by Bob Sackamano # October 25, 2009 at 5:10 pm
Again, retard, hopefully Queerorizer would not engage in behavior like that either. Again, it is a total misuse of the medium and hopefully he knows that. It is deserving of no respect and actually (in my opinion) is grounds for alienating yourself out of the community. In other words, it makes you a DOG. Filming should only be done in the tradition of producing a part or segment IN A VIDEO and as something that is the creative sum of your efforts. I knew that would be your go to excuse. How absolutely shallow and unimaginative are you people? There are absolutely two canons in skateboarding. The bible, which is the magazine medium(certain ones anyway) and the video, which is the be all. There should be no room for anything else and nothing less should be tolerated or accepted. Not for coverage or exposure anyway.
Comment by TOWEL BRAND TOWELING # October 25, 2009 at 5:31 pm

To be honest with you, I would love to see all skateboarding that’s not in traditional video format be removed from the internet. The internet is not for skateboarding. Video’s and magazines are for skateboarding. In other word’s, if you wouldn’t include it in a video part, it shouldn’t exist. And it damn well shouldn’t be used as content on a website.

Flimers don’t “work” on videos. Filmers film skateboarders. The skateboarder creates a part that goes in a video. Filmers shouldn’t have anything to do with a skateboarder’s part other than the filming. The skateboarder should be directing every aspect of how that part looks and it should not be vice versa. A filmer should not be taking skateboarders to spots, should not be directing the skateboarder on how to utilize the spot, or providing spots for the skateboarder. That is the skateboarders duty. If the skateboarder is relying on a filmer or photographer to take them to spots and provide afalse setting for them, then both skateboarder and filmer/photographer are DOGS. The filmer should not create a false sense of reality for the skateboarder or for the video. The filmer’s main duty is to just film. This is when the skateboarder and filmer’s final product is most organic.
Comment by The Tao of Towel # October 26, 2009 at 10:15 am
So what, you’re saying that Stewart flew to London to “orchestrate” or “direct” a video? Doesn’t London have filmers? Don’t the people Stewart flew to London to film with have filmers? Or was he was flying there to film with people because they don’t have a filmer? I find that hard to believe. So yes, you pose an excellent question. Exactly what did Stewart fly to London and Paris for? As I understand it, a subject of Stewart’s new “video” endeavour has a brother that films. Are you saying that this subject is unable to film with his own brother? I find that hard to believe as well. So what exactly was the reason for Stewart’s recent “filming trip” to London and Paris for? Candid shots of The Eiffel Tower and Big Ben for filler? That amazing 3 Strikes of Toddy? A “vacation”? During the best month in NY? Your guess is as good as mine. I suppose we shall see.

Spot’s. It’s plural. I meant for the majority of the skateboarder’s part. Like most skateboarder’s parts these days. Most spots in most skateboarder’s parts are regurgitated spots that are not indigenous to the skateboarder and have been run through the mill, usually where the skateboarder is like “where is that one spot?” or, “take me to that spot that so and so did this” and the one upping and spot raping commences. You know what I’m talking about. Like I said, you can’t bullshit a bullshitter. That was nearly as imaginative of a response or “defense” as Sack-of-man-o’s in comment 22.

Who wants to hear hypocrisy? Where should I start…
Comment by Towel Call on line 1 # October 26, 2009 at 3:15 pm
Man I’m calling bullshit on this one. I think skate videos are meant to highlight awesome, hopefully creative, and “entertaining” skateboarding. I think making a good one means a lot of different factors come into play, especially more than relying on whichever skateboarders have been “chosen” for , or “agreed” to take part in, the video.
I hate the “s as much as you do.
Anyway, sure in an ideal world each skater would have ample spots thought out, and ample, interesting, stylish, creative or just plain gnarly tricks to do on them. But sometimes the stars just don’t align. I happen to think the filmer of said video is there to help make all that shit happen.
Now creating fake spots, and plain old direction aside, I think sometimes dudes benefit greatly from a filmer finding and sharing with them a spot they feel like this particular skateboarder might be into, or might have an interesting way of skating. Sometimes the skater and filmer might go to a spot of, say, the skateboarders choosing and the trick he has in mind doesn’t work out, or it does, but the filmer se’s something else there. I think it’s vital the filmer has input. A two way fucking street.
It’s his fucking video after all. Sure the skateboarding makes the video what it is, but without the filmer putting it all together, hopefully well, then who the fuck cares? No one sees it, no one cares about it. Not even the dudes that were skating it in the first place.
How many horror stories are out there of people getting shit filmed, and those tapes never seeing the light of day? Stuck on some dudes hard-drive doing nothing. Yeah, because the skateboarder did his part, but the filmer? Not so much.
The two sides need to work well together in order to put out a truly interesting, and enjoyable video.
Now I’m not into filmers taking dudes to spots and telling them what’s not only already been done there, but also what they think they should do now. I’ve seen crackthewhip dudes enough times, that have completely ruined sessions and/or skateboarders. But aside from ONLY skating spots in the place you live, how the fuck else are you going to get shit done, without a little help here and there?
Oh and as for this “duty” bullshit? It’s not a job. Or the fucking military. None of you dudes are getting paid anyway, right? So quit it. It’s barely a job. It’s fun. Just make something you’re proud of, with a bunch of dudes you have fun with, and respect. Can’t ask for much more than that these days anyway.

Uptown, I don’t mean to shit on your vintage car show, but let me just point out a glaring inconsistency and/or contradiction. You said in two consecutive sentences, “A two way fucking street” and “it’s his fucking video after all”. Ok, fine, now let me be brief. A fucking monkey, for christ’s sake, can film a skateboarding. Hell, even I have filmed skateboarding. That said, a retarded monkey can “put a video together”. Granted, it might not be the most beautiful video, but I think you might be losing sight of exactly what makes a good skate video. Case in point, Two Songs an/or Fucktards by Shanti-Hero. The filming of the skating is by no means “beautiful”. But THE SKATING is thorough. Direction is a matter of choice and liking the direction is a matter of taste. Am I off base here? So, I think you might be assigning a little too much credit here to the “film maker”, but, you can have fucking Francis Ford Coppala direct and edit a vid but if the skating and spots aint raw daddy and/or fresh and inspiring, like you got dogs fakin the funk, like dudes from Florida filming the intro’s and the majority of their parts in neighborhoods they ain’t never spent twenty minutes in or ain’t put in no work to find one new spot, then you’re shit is WACK. Sorry bud, no VMA for you. But shit, let’s see what you got. What’s your YouTube channel? Mine’s “Wipe it Wit a Towel” Hope you like it dat shit.

Comment by Towel Calling, lines 6 and 7 # October 26, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Now Towel let me point out something to you: You know how you mention the Direction being a matter of choice and taste? So is the skateboarding. So that’s a null and void comment.
This whole godamn circus is a subjective matter of choice and taste. Whole carriers are based on people having “good” taste and appreciating good “direction”. Video or Skateboarding itself. I can see in the flesh something I think is just as nasty on four wheels than anything in a video.
The problem is also that a monkey can also skateboard. It might not be the best skateboarding you’ve ever seen but a monkey can step on a board and probably push through the streets. He may even manage to find an untouched cutty spot or two along the way.
The thing is, I may not be into the shit he manages to do on it. And also, unless there’s that other monkey following him around, foolishly, pointing a camera (video or otherwise) in his direction there’s no way for me to know about it.
Sure the Monkey might have had a blast, but let’s assume all the other monkeys in town want to see what went down, how are they supposed to do that unless the little filmer monkey dude gets his shit right and puts it out there? And how is the first monkey going to get a paycheck? Or recognition? Or at least be a part of something larger than just himself? And if he doesn’t want any of the above, than why is he filming in the first place?
Oh and we weren’t talking about how well things were filmed, or how high the production values were anyway. We were talking about the skateboarding. And getting to see it. When did I mention needing Francis Ford Coppala behind the lens? Let alone Ty Fucking Evans.
PS. Are you sure about that retarded monkey knowing his way around Final Cut? That shit melts my advanced monkey brain. Maybe he’s an iMovie Monkey? Fuck.

I think T makes some good points. I used to hate seeing Deluxe ad after Deluxe ad of whatever stoner goon taken at some spot that Morford found, drove them to and actually rigged up a barrier at. That shit just sucks. Like, do the dudes in those kinds of photos even like skating? And if so, do they actually go skating or go through life with skater’s eyes? Because if not, then I don’t think they have any business earning a living off of the fact that they can successfully make it LOOK LIKE they go out skating and push all over and actually find something on their own. That’s like the definition of fraudulent–if you’re dumb and boring then you should film shit that’s only as sick as you are. Skaters who are too stupid to find anything interesting to do on their own should have to pay the consequences in the form of an end to skateboarding as a source of income. As things stand now, everyone, including the skaters who get their hands held, should at least be prepared to openly admit that they suck in a significant way. Whatever, you’re a kook anyway if you are the type of person to regularly take suggestions from anyone else about what to do.

I can understand where you are coming from, Towel, on taking pride in the mediums of video and magazine, but to complain about each and every game of skate posted on this “skate-blog site” (funny, when someone complains about too much conspiracy theory content, this is not “skate site.” It’s a conspiracy theory site with a dash of skateboarding) just seems pointless. We get it, everyone in the entire world enjoys a fun game of skate except you, and all this nonstop video content on the internet is ruining the skateboard video medium. I think it’s a little late to say it’s ruining it though. That shit is ruined. But at least the guy you’re dissing is putting out videos that are staying pretty true to what you’re saying. So he might have to work for a huge extreme sports drink corporation, however ironic that may be, dude’s gotta eat. And so what is he posts a useless game of skate here and there, he’s gotta keep us “dogs” happy, and coming back so that when the video does come out, there are people waiting to buy that video, so he can make a tiny percentage of the money he spent to make that video back. Not to mention most of the guys featured on this “skate-blog site” are people who rarely get coverage, so anything I can see of them, I’m hyped.

Maybe I’ll try and read that jungle(ha, get it?) of a comment again tomorrow. Until then, try and stay off the monkey juice. 79., It’ll be similar to the Theories online store. Seabreeze, good looks. Psyched Floridian, your the worst type of dog. Move to the big city if the Florida blues got you down pussy. Make sure you stay thru winter. I’ll break your little tear jerker of a comment down tomorrow. God, your as pathetic as they come. And finally, towel dog, touche. All I’d have to say is go have a look at that spot. Personally, I think I should get a little pat on the back for even walking up the steps to that thing. The way I looked at it, there are probably very few people who can maneuver themselves to even get at that thing, let alone ollie into it. But go have a look at it. If you think you can do something into it, do it. Film it. Take a photo of it. I’ll put it on the cover of “Towel Monthly” next to the inlay of me lipping “Hypocrisy’s” mother’s 13 stair. If you can’t, come back here and tell me how hard you think it was to come into that thing fakie and we’ll forget about it. But keep in mind here, I ain’t talking about one trick. I’m talking about full video parts of dog shit. Bull dog shit. But keep em coming, this is extremely healthy internetting and I’m proud of all of you. You all get big juicy dog bones for your energies. And also, please, I’m taking resumes. So when all you dogs have your parts online ready to go, you can post them here and we’ll check them out and see where we’re all at. Does that sound good? Until then, good night. Arf Arf.

So the Towel gets caught red handed (see comment 86) in his own hypocrisy and it’s just shrugged off? How is he above being labeled a “DOG” for spot-raping other people? Only HE can call people dogs when they spot rape him? I’m confused.

Uptown, in short, my point is that one is GENERALLY, MORE LIKELY to be inspired and psyched to watch a piece of footage of say, Guy Mariano skating filmed by Wing Ko, than Wing Ko skating, filmed by Guy Mariano. I think you see my point. Granted you bring up a valid point(or rather re-interpret my valid point) when you say that “the skating is a matter of choice as well”. But again, I think you see what I’m getting at. You know, sometimes you just gotta call a spade a spade. Nice talking at you.

“Get’s caught red handed” Ha! Surely you cannot be serious in this instance. I’m absolutely positive you see the points I’m making here. I think comment 80 summarizes them pretty closely. But go ahead, set your straw figurines in motion. I’m not talking about one spot. Surely it’s impossible, as Uptown said, to not tread into that territory. I’m talking about hand holding, personality embellishment, importation of “talent”, skaters being influenced by the filmer, including or attaching an aesthetic or theme of a video to a “type” of skateboarder when the skateboarder is anything but that, painting pictures, and general aesthetic and spot rape. Something your last video reeked of. But go ahead, swing away. Practice is absolutely necessary.

Or anecdotes from dudes like Dan Wolfe. You know he has some amazing Freddy, Serge, Rick and Matt Reason stories. Fuck, what is wrong with you people? Dear Bobby “Towel” Puleo,
Spot rape? Ethical Treatment of Skateboarding? Really? Well, let’s have a look at your record when we had the pleasure to have you as a guest in our beloved city of London, shall we?
As everyone is about to find out, your “Ethical Treatment of Skateboarding” here made quite an impression…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpMocikHaVE
0:33: You were taken to this spot and did a line whose originality can be questioned in regards to Olly Todd’s line in Static 3 ( At 2:15 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAvw2FP2sIE )
0:37: YOU STOLE THAT SPOT AND THAT TRICK from London local Lucien Clarke who did the ollie long before you did (in fact he had a sequence doing it in his Kingpin interview months before you came in town). You were fully aware he did it. A local you went to the spot with told you so before you tried. You said: “It doesn’t matter”. You did it and put it in your video part. Nice.
1:21: YOU STOLE THAT TRICK from another local Rob Mathieson better known as Robbleyard who did it before you. You were again informed of that fact and replied: “I don’t care”. Now you’re gonna claim that it was your spot in the first place cause you were the first to skate it. Wrong. Mark Channer (London legend) grinded the top part of that bench into the bank long before you ever stepped foot in this country. You just skated the lower part of the bench (far less interesting in my opinion and way way easier) and called yourself a creative genius. Congratulation!
2:59: Are you claiming you found that spot?! Someone took you there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S64moJ7MDqs
1:36: Are you claiming you found that spot??? Someone grabbed your tiny hand and took you there. As far as finding that line, the general feeling here is that this was filmed before ( 1:14 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJnH9tnP43s&feature=related ). How original of you!
And now, my personal favorite:
1.20: YOU COPIED A LINE from Snowy’s part in the first landscape video (check at 2:24 http://video.mpora.com/watch/EB5SvJJU6/ )
You’ve claimed before that Toddy’s part in this video is one of your favorite of all time, people will find it hard to believe that you never had a look at the other parts in the video at least a couple times.
This is just what I could come up with off the top of my head living in London and having heard stories after stories of how you acted like a dog (according to your own definition of the word in one of your previous comments) by people who witnessed it firsthand or the victims of your dog-behavior themselves. Every single time you came here you stole spots and tricks from locals (you have quite a reputation for it in this city actually) and now you’re giving us all that bollocks about how people should or shouldn’t act in skateboarding?!!!
It seems like “the rules” don’t apply when you’re out of town… or maybe they just apply to everyone else, not you? Or maybe they don’t apply when people you’re stealing from are pretty much unknown in the US so it is very likely that no one will ever hear about it on your side of the ocean, allowing you to get away with it?
Hypocrisy indeed…
Comment by Embankment # October 27, 2009 at 7:36 am
P.S: I wouldn’t have brought this up cause I personally don’t think it’s such a big deal, but reading you go bonkers all the time on this blog about that same shit and reading some of your last comments about how everyone else except for you is such a “dog” in skateboarding, I thought I’d set things straight. Instead of preaching about this and that and acting like you’re some sort of saint, the saviour of true skateboarding and all that bollocks, why don’t you try living up to your own words? According to your own standarts, you’ve been shitting all over skateboarders in this city repeatedly and consistently, stealing their spots, their tricks, even their lines! You’re therefore not qualified to be the judge of anything regarding spots or skateboarding etiquette in general.
So shove your fake rules with your ego up your arse and stop pretending you’re here to save skateboarding when the only thing you’re obviously trying to save is your crumbling career.
Comment by Embankment # October 27, 2009 at 7:41 am
Its interesting to hear someone named “embankment” make a post like this. It brings up memories of a few spots u skated in London that were definitely not found by u, had been skated by other people before u and even a couple where u went and did tricks that local London skaters had already done but u still went ahead and did them anyways. does that ring any bells? its my understanding that u were told before u did these tricks that another skater in town had already filmed the same trick u were doing but u didnt care because ur Bobby Puleo and ur above the rules. these were skaters u knew personally and were suppsedly friends with. I wish the name “hypocrisy” wasnt already being used because this comment should definitely fall under that category as well

Comment by The Art of Toweling # October 27, 2009 at 1:44 pm
They think I dogged Rob Matheson(spelling?). I went there with a filmer, I think the one of the first days I got back into town with a filmer that was living there at the time, and told him I wanted to do switch back 5 come in forward, since in my last video part I did it regular, which I believe was the second trick ever done at the spot like that. The first was the front nosegrind I did in the line before it. I think someone told me after I skated the seat part that some English dude skated the top of the bench(anyone, name? Chewy?) a long time ago, but didn’t hear if it was ever documented(again, anyone?). I asked the dudes hanging around if anyone had ever skated that spot like that and I think one of them told me homeboy 50′d the top, which is seriously bad ass. Regardless, I never saw it. Anybody know who that was or what it was in? Also, anyone know if Rob’s trick ever came out? I heard he went back and refilmed it after I did mine. Is that true also? I filmed another trick that day there as well, but didn’t put it into my part.

Comment by TOWEL # October 27, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Stewart, you wanna handle that one? I think you’re pretty aware of those time tables. I’m pretty sure a lot of that footage was filmed by Fox and some of it was filmed by you. Aside from Lucien’s “trick”, I think you’re wrong on all of those. I’d have to take a look at all of your claims when I have more time(gotta sleep), but I think your wrong on all of them. As far as Lucien, I understand he ollied into that frontside? Am I wrong? I don’t know which way he skates. The loc’s told me he did it going into the other bank, that he did it frontside, and that he didn’t do it that well. I never saw the photo’s cause we don’t really get Kingpin here. I wish we did. Believe me, if someone told me Lucien did it that way, did it backside and did it well, I would not have done it. I’m pretty careful about that stuff. If someone does something wack, then it’s fair game. Sorry. I also don’t go around biting people’s shit. But anyhow, post the pics and I suppose we can see which one works for us. Frontside and backside ollies into shit are precarious. So are 180’s and shit. Also I hate to say this, but it really depends who did what. I believe there is a hierarchy in skateboarding. I don’t necessary know if I feel bad for believing that. I also think many would agree with me. I mean I suppose we are treading onto shaky ground with stances and shit. I suppose I can elaborate on that when I have more time if I need to. But, I feel you on the Lucien tip. Like I said, it gets difficult when there are different options at a spot that are similar, but not the same. But again, I think you’re missing my point entirely. I’m not necessarily talking about specific tricks per say. As Upton said, it is extremely difficult to do. I’m more talking of an over all feel of disingenuousness and I’m fairly sure that even you would agree that what I do with my skating is genuine. I’m pretty darn careful I don’t tread on people’s territory, because I know what it feels like. I usually also try to utilize a spot to the best of my ability to try and skate the spot the way the spot is most originally supposed to be skated. I suppose I can elaborate on that a little more when I have more time as well. Other than that, what can I say? I feel for ya bud. I’m sorry you’re so upset. I’ll take a closer look at your claims when I have more time, as it looks that you spent a considerable amount of time constructing your novela. Other than that, have a good night.

Hey Enwankment, one thing you gotta keep in mind is the time it takes from when tricks are filmed and when the footage comes out. Believe me, these bitches talk about what tricks were done like girls talk about what Cindy was wearing Monday. That said, I’ll look at your claims, but I think I’m spot on(no pun intended) on my counter claim. I mean I don’t watch every video that comes out, especially Euro or Brit, and being that I’m a stickler about abd’s and spot rape and shit and a lot of my friends know I’m a stickler about that kinda shit, no one has ever come at me (with the exception of the Robbleyard shit. I think I even talked to him about it) with those claims before. And believe me, I know a couple of bitches who would love to come at me with that shit. Regardless, you could be right. But you didn’t address what I said in 126 or 145. What’s up?

That once u were told that Rob had done the trick u wanted to try already, that u said “who cares….I was the first to skate it this way”. or sumthin like that. It’s hearsay, ill give you that, but to hear these words confirmed by another person in the London scene confirms it for me. so now u are the judge and jury for all things skate related. u are indeed molded after the very american governmental system of which u protest every day on ur site. u make the rules and then u can find convenient loopholes whenever it fits your agenda “I heard he didn’t do it well”.

#187(how ironic), what doesn’t make sense to you? Homey told me he didn’t really do it. Go ask dude. I didn’t go there and ask homeboy what has been done that I can rip off. I said I want to do this. Dude, says well Robbleyard tried it, came close, but didn’t do it. I was like, fuck it, I’ll do it right now. And then I did something else just in case he got butt hurt. I didn’t go there to take homey out. If you don’t do something, or don’t do it well, than that’s just the way it goes. There was plenty of shit I wanted to do there after I left the first time. The shit is 3,471 miles away, what the fuck am I gonna do? Some dudes did tricks I would have loved to have done there. I didn’t come back and do those, did I? Dude had tons of time to skate thing. I didn’t. It’s just too bad, isn’t it? A real pity. But to come off like I’m some kind of hypocrite or that I premeditated shit, or that “I’m done”(whatever that means) is just preposterous. Like I said, I was the first to skate that thing like that. I ain’t making that shit up. It’s a fact. You think that’s egotistical or some shit, then I’m sorry about you. That doesn’t make it not true. Besides, I think people said he went back and did it. And from what you’re saying, he did. Cool, great. To this day, I still haven’t ever seen it. So again, what is it about this that you don’t understand? I’m not lying to you. Besides, why are you so vested in this topic? Why don’t you tell us who you are if your so hot in the ass over this? You know who I am. And besides, you still haven’t touched on the other piles of shit I left sitting on your doorstep. What?

Nope, I’m still just Upton. Sorry for not getting back to you with the reference. I’m glad some other dudes did for me though. I’m not smart. My name just coincided with an editing choice for Josh’s little Steiner Mix game. Or maybe it was the other way around. Either way: It’s just a name.
Weird how this thing started as debate over whether filmers were vital in making a video watchable, or whether it was all (or mostly) down to the skateboarder. Now it’s turned into spot protocol and ABD’s.
Fucking skateboarding.
Anyway, it’s interesting to me that a lot of this debate over the trick in London would have been settled had a FILMER got that clip out there in a video somewhere in the last few years. As a lot of this backandforth comes from dudes not knowing whether he did or didn’t do it, and that if he did no one has seen it in the first place. I don’t know how it went down but I have to admit that I have no problem with The Towel using his “version” in a video part. I bet good money if Rob’s clip or even a photo had seen the light of day, and The Towel had seen it, he wouldn’t have used the clip. Which is really what we’re talking about. Because as far as tricks go: anyone can do anything they want anywhere they want. Fuck ABD’s unless you’re planning on filming and doing something with that trick.
Funny how it all comes back to the filmer and/or the making of a video…

“Wet your own bed”, I really cannot believe how you have twisted and manipulated the Landscape thing in 232. I really cannot. That money was absolutely paid back. In fact I called Fos and told him about a month into the agreement to ride for Landscape, that after deciding to ride for Traffic, that I would pay him that check back. That I would make sure of it. And it absolutely was not 48 hours. That is just absolutely ridiculous. I was super psyched to ride for Landscape because Olly Todd was one of my favorite skateboarders. I was actually envisioning getting Olly back involved and getting Landscape back to where it once was. Once I realized how difficult that was going to be and what Traffic was doing, I decided to ride for Traffic since it was closer to home and I could be much more involved on a personal level. Like I said, I made sure Fos was going to get his money back. It really upsets me that you would say something like that. It’s extremely low. I would never rip anyone off, especially when it comes to money. I’m smarter than that and I’ve been ripped off before. I know how it feels. To insinuate that that was some kind of scheme is just ridiculous. I’m truly sorry that that is what you believe about that situation, and, that you would speak or use that type of falsehood to try and deconstruct me or defend your friends or whatever it is your trying to do. I believe you’ve made your point. You have no idea how much I’ve learned from this conversation. Thank you.

Comment by Toweling Vic and Toweling Tim # October 30, 2009 at 8:31 am
Nor have I ever proclaimed to be the “savior of pure street skateboarding”. What I did say is that it is wrong to import talent, provide spots for that imported talent, create false images based on the use of the borrowed resources and use an aesthetic that is not indigenous to the filmmaker and/or the skater. It depletes the natural and indigenous resources of the real skateboarders who have a.)labored to extract those resources, b.) use and rely on those natural and indigenous resources to make their living and c.) Comment by Toweling Vic and Toweling Tim # October 30, 2009 at 8:43 am
Speaking of rules, you say in comment 225 that, “yet u bend the rules to suit ur own agenda” and then in the very next sentence you say, “u chastise everybody for breaking these fake rules”. So tell me, are there actual rules? In one sentence you proclaim there are, and in the very next sentence you proclaim that they are are “fake”. Which one is it? Are there rules to street skating?

I’m going to go against the grain here and say that the Towel is highly entertaining and rather witty. Debate is not about being right but rather it’s about being able to put across a point of view and to be able to back it no matter the odds. Who cares who is right and who is wrong, the discourse is what matters, don’t personalise it. If we all thought and did things the same way, life would be dull. I believe that is the point to this whole discussion, which seems to have been forgotten amidst the personal insults, the point being that the same shit all the time is boring as hell.

Wow, I don’t go on the site for a few days and suddenly 261 comments?!!! An interesting 20 minutes of reading indeed. I think Embankment does have some valid points though, Towel, are you ducking how you have the exact same line as Snowy in Static 2 as Snowy’s in the first landscape vid which came out a year before? How are you going to get out of that? Obviously when you rode for Landscape for a month or however(before Static 2 came out), you absolutely must have seen the vid(How else would you know about Olly from the states?) so how did you not see Snowy’s line with the Nollie 360 at the Barbican?

once again u wiggle ur way out of the tangled web u have woven for urself using lies and half truths.
Please somebody for the love of all thats just in the world get Fos on the phone. i have heard this story several times and although i never suggested that i knew the exact amount of time u pretended u were goin to ride for landscape, i know that u didnt chase fos down to “make sure of it” to pay him that money back. i have heard that u specifically said something about the rumor of u maybe riding for landscape was better for landscape than any kind of promotion they could ever do for themselves. so it was justifiable for u to keep the money. and, judging by the high esteem in which u hold urself, that seems to fit right in with something u would say. i know that the shit that was talked about u for ur dealings with landscape was not the result of ur promising to “pay that check back”.
but perhaps the most incredible part of this all is that u tried to proclaim that IM crazy! bobby puleo just called ME crazy. did i just fall thru a vortex to the land of opposites? its amazing because im starting to think u really believe ur own lies. u cant just stick a plaster over ur hypocrisy and expect it to just go away.
Comment by Bake your own bread # October 30, 2009 at 5:09 pm
and let us not forget about the countless other charges uv ignored or glossed over the issues that Embankment brought to light.
u went on an enraged tirade about the rules of skateboarding, what makes one person a dog and what makes u god. yet, u were caught in countless examples of being brought to spots, heavily skating other cities and filming on spots u didnt find urself, of doing lines and tricks locals had already done, blatantly taking local skaters out in their own towns, and being portrayed in videos as a skater from a city he isn’t actually from. have we all forgotten about the FTC video penal code? did u not film nearly an entire part in san francisco? for an sf based skateshop nonetheless? or how about 5 flavors? pier seven? skating under the bay bridge? Lockwood? gasp!
whatd u do, move there for a year or two to give urself the right to grope the citys spots? but by ur own standards isnt a war crime?
respect is due for all of these video parts, but ur a miserable twat off ur skateboard. grow up man. ur a dangerously angry person whos fury is misdirected.

Comment by Gangster shit # October 30, 2009 at 9:02 pm
I think comment 264 maybe takes some of the things TWL has said a bit too seriously. When east coast skaters used to go to SF for the winter or whatever, the footage and photos that came from that were the hottest shit ever, and I’m sure TWL would agree (recall his description of Hickey’s nollie over the bench in Union Square in SF). And his own shit from that time period is basically classic, I don’t even know why you’d bring it up–that’s obviously not the kind of shit he’s saying is wack. There are probably a lot of reasons for this, but one of the more prominent ones (I would think) would be that, when these east coast skaters would go out to SF and get coverage, it was pretty clear that they were super psyched to just go all over SF to find any spot at all and skate the shit out of it. Basically, they were finding their own shit and skating it their own way. And if you can’t spot that kind of quality in TWL’s own parts from that era, I think you’re trying to hard to find evidence of hypocrisy or assholeishness.
Oh, and it sounds like you’re basically mad at TWL because he didn’t chase down the dude to pay him back right away. (And we all know about those seven-figure Traffic signing bonuses–I’m sure there’s no other reason why the TWL didn’t pay him back immediately besides the fact that he was out on his yacht cavorting with the glitterati or something.) Also, you seem to rely on word of mouth about lots of these things, which is no good for your credibility. Like, let’s consider this:
‘i have heard that u specifically said something about the rumor of u maybe riding for landscape was better for landscape than any kind of promotion they could ever do for themselves. so it was justifiable for u to keep the money.’
First of all, who cares what ‘u’ heard? Second, I’m confused: are you claiming he did not pay the dude back? Because if he did pay him back, well then all you’ve really got to be mad about is the rumor(!) that TWL said that thing about promotion for landscape (or again, that he didn’t pay him back quick enough). But how do you know his promotion comment is not true anyway? I’m not trying to be a jerk here, but I had never heard of landscape before I heard TWL might be riding for them. You interpret the alleged statement as completely assholeish but it’s not like there’s not at least a grain of truth there. And then your last sentence there only matters if TWL didn’t actually pay the dude back: otherwise it’s just you’re negative interpretation of TWL’s attitude, which, again, seems to be based on a lot of hearsay.
You perhaps have more of a case to make about some of those clips that you linked to above (but not all of them, e.g. the white flat rail that TWL and Olly Todd both skated–who cares?). But then again, I happen to know the TWL personally, and his skate-trick memory is awful, even with respect to tricks he himself has done. For instance, many years ago we were at the pyramid ledges in downtown New York, not that long after they kind of skate-stopped them (maybe for the second time? I’m not sure), so that if you wanted to skate them you had to go fast and land on the ledge after the skate stopper, which I thought was a bit gnarly. Anyway, I asked TWL if he had ever skated them after they’d been skate-stopped like that, and at first he was like ‘yeah, I bs nosegrinded it,’ and then a second later he was like ‘wait, I can’t remember if I did that or not.’ The point is, the spot was hard enough to skate that I think most people would have remembered doing a trick like that, but not TWL. So if he actually just forgot about some clip that he saw once before, I wouldn’t be surprised at all. I’m not saying that’s definitely what happened, I don’t know about that, but I have that in mind while you’re making all those charges. Perhaps you could refer to the London grapevine for the definitive version.
Comment by Seabreeze # October 30, 2009 at 10:25 pm
Seabreeze, I agree with you that it’s all ridiculous. childish, clearly. But the statement that im taking the twl too seriously needs to really be examined. maybe u should go back and reread what he wrote at the beginning of this post. the guy is dead serious. and for someone to act as moses descending mount sainai with the 10 skate commandments in his hands, he better be REAL sure he hasnt broken any of the “rules” he proclaims to be the protector of. simply, if ur going to attempt to discredit someone (in this case theorizer) based on a bunch of codes of ethics, u better be sure that u havent violated any of those codes urself. ya get me?
next, im relaying anecdotes that have been relayed to me directly from people who were on the scene. im not going to throw anybody else into the hellfires of puleos anger, so i will not say who. my wording has been careful to not get any innocents caught in the crossfire. but ur obviously not reading puleos own words carefully. he NEVER “paid” fos back. read what he wrote. fos just printed up a guest board as a way to recoup the money he paid puleo. and u can rest assured that he didnt chase down fos to make sure the code of ethics went unbroken.
why do u hold onto ur allegience to this twat? hes a goon. he talks to u and everyone else on this site like theyre children and hes god. im simply holding his history up to the same microscope that he holds everybody else up to. and, as we all can see, pretty much everybody can be judged as a “dog” if we really analyze their history thoroughly enuff. but nobody else is propping themselves up as beacons of righteousness the way puleo does, are they? my point all along is that if ur gonna chastise others and hate on everybody for their “dog” tactics, then u better make sure uv had ur rabies shots first. and this dog has been off its leash for way too long. ur lucky some of us finally called the pound on him before he started shitting in ur lawn too.

Man, this is intense.
I’m going to say this though: For the love of god, drop all the ur’s and uv’s. Fuck. Are those extra two letters that hard to type out? I mean, I’m reading your argument, and from what I’ve heard/read agree with a lot of what you have to say, but I really can’t take the internet-kid grammar seriously.
And that dog metaphor at the end? Damn. Way to over-sell it.
Anyway, this has all turned put pretty hateful, but from the sounds of it: Towel has made a couple of bad choices, regarding both business matters (which are really none of our business, oh check the double usage, and really just between himself and Fos), and also come on heavy with the egomania regarding spots, tricks, and “The Code”. Which he has clearly broken more than a few times.
Which is why we should all learn something from this: Fuck media coverage and professionalism. Fuck videos especially. If it wasn’t for videos we wouldn’t have any of these goddamn problems. We could all just go about skating spots we want, in cities we want to go to, with people we like to skate with.
Hopefully Josh wises up and quits doing what he’s doing, shuts this site down, and then we all have to find something else to do with our (internet) time.
I’m opting for Porn. Most likely.
Comment by UptonSinclair # October 31, 2009 at 11:23 am
268: Stoops. I was clearly referring to east coast skaters who went to the west coast for the winter, not TWL specifically. In fact, TWL wasn’t even really one of these guys technically, since he was living out there, not just visiting. You’re clearly the dumbest and worst dude on here–a backtracking, dicklicking, filming, sweating dog who can’t even be expected to not completely misunderstand a simple sentence.
267: Yeah, I get your point, but it’s still not clear to me that TWL broke any rules. And you’re confusing skating and filming issues with business issues; whatever happened between TWL and this guy Fos does not seem to be related to the dog behaviors that TWL talks about earlier on in the comments. Like, I don’t think TWL ever referred to any code of ethics with respect to how you treat your sponsors or how they treat you, so why bring that shit up anyway? Obviously it bothers you to sit and listen to TWL preach on these other matters, but it’s not clear what those other matters have to do with sponsors.
I wrote 266 because I felt those were points worth sharing. Also, whatever TWL has or hasn’t done over the years to violate whatever code of ethics he laid out above, I still think that code of ethics should be taken more seriously. From this perspective, the focus on TWL’s sins is kind of besides the point I guess, at least as far as I’m concerned, because he’s pretty much the only non-anonymous person anywhere saying that kind of shit, and the message he’s trying to get across is bigger and more important to me than anything he’s done. Like, no matter how much of an asshole he might be, I have always felt that people whose video parts or photos depend on filmers and photographers are definitely dogs. Like I’ve said before here, they’re just living off of other peoples’ original types of sickness without giving any credit (they probably don’t even know who they’re living off of most of the time), which I think is naturally wack. By the same token, I don’t think he’s actually interested in trying to portray himself as a beacon of righteousness, but rather he just wants to make the point that a lot of what’s out there sucks, for a very particular reason. Maybe it’s understandable that you hear what he says and focus on his alleged hypocrisy, but like I said, I just think it’s worth pointing out that the code of ethics is a good one. Oh, and if you haven’t noticed, it is not uncommon for commentors here to talk to other commentors like they’re children. Obviously it can get tiresome, but I think it’s good to not take it too seriously.
Comment by Seabreeze # October 31, 2009 at 2:43 pm
261, Again, it’s about biting shit and filming it, tryin to come off like it’s your aesthetic when it ain’t. Sackamano, never saw that part. I didn’t even know Snowy was on Landscape back then. I saw Olly’s part and Toby’s part, the only two parts that really mattered. Shits was dope, and that’s what got me hyped on Landscape. Anyhow, I suppose if you are going to pose that question to me like that, then I suppose it should be posed to Stewart as well, because apparently he didn’t catch the fact that we had the same line either and we edited the part together. I don’t think either of us would have let something like that get out if we were aware that the line had been done. It’s funny because I filmed another trick there that day as well. On top of that, if Snowy somehow would have known that I did that and said something to me, I would not have had a problem taking it out. It’s all about being vocal. This is why I open my mouth so much, because I don’t want to step on anyone else’s feet. I’m a stickler about that shit. Personally, I think it looks pretty desperate and totally embarrassing if you do something at the same spot and you know it and let it come out anyway. But apparently to most of you, saying something is wrong and that makes me a dog. Woof. So Sack-of-Man-O, what are his other points? You did say points, with an s as in plural, correct? 263, Again, me and Fos came to the agreement that he would put out the board and that is how the money would and GOT PAID BACK. You’ve seen the board, haven’t you? Ok, thank you. Good try, next please. In 265, you make a good point. The best you’ve made yet in fact. All I can say is that times were different then. But you are correct. Unfortunately, that is where I lived at the time. That is where my sponsors were and believe me, if I were able to make my living at home, I would have stayed here from the beginning. You think I wanted to be out there? I hated it. I ended up moving back fairly quickly to NY and that’s when the fun began. You see NYC was dead back then. No skate touristas, no spot rapers, just dudes who grew up around here skating Manhattan. Shit, dudes didn’t even really venture out to BK back then either. I mean Flushing was around but that was a trek and a half. I lived Uptown and it was a no man’s land. When Mad Circle went under, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. Regardless, I’m not trying to give you some sob story. And again, you’re losing site of the conversation at hand. My charges are being levied at filmers providing an aesthetic and spots and raping the aesthetic of a place that is not indigenous to the people they create an image for in their video’s. Static 3 is a great example of this false aesthetic with the shots of iconic NY objects like the Rosenwach water tanks and the specific styles of architecture, especially the roll downs. Then you have infamous shots of known Florida palm burbs fronting and pushing down a crusty Meat Packing alley way for his intro. AS IF! Should I keep going, because I can. Tony Manfre…LL Cool J(??? a Hollis native, come on!!! As if Manfre even knows where Hollis even is!). Financial at night? Please…save me the drama. This is the type of shit I’m talking about. You’d have some ammo(and a good argument) if I came to The Big Smoke and posed for my intro or “lifestyle” shots in front of Parliment. BUT I DID NOT. So, please, release your pit bull jaw from my nut sack and dry those eyes. This is the type of shit I’m talking about. And Stewart and the only dude painting pictures these days. It’s become the new norm to disregard the unspoken rules. Hell, I heard Stefan Jankowski lives in Manhattan(Nike cheese anyone?) and that the Transworld tools are renting a spot to film the majority of the video in NY. Can anyone say SPOT RAPE. I mean the audacity! And thank you Seabreeze, I think you’ve summed up my points brilliantly and I truly respect and appreciate that. But the best part about this Piss Mattress’s reply is that IT WAS FOS WHO CAME UP WITH AND SUGGESTED THE PAYMENT METHOD as the best and most appropriate way for me to pay back the money. I duly agreed and that was the end of that. No hard feeling’s, no money not paid back. Piss Mattress, if you are so up on the scene and the talk, then why didn’t you know it was Fos who suggested this? Nice fucking try asshole.

One question for you Towel. What’s the problem with people skating spots that they themselves didn’t find? I mean, we are all just skateboarders wanting to have fun, and new spots present new challenges, and thus a new way to have fun. So why keep spots exclusive and prevent others from having the same fun you have there? I understand the desire to keep the spot bust free and with new spots comes flocks of people. I understand that preventing dickheads with spray paint and bad attitudes from ruining the spot is a concern. However if you only skate spots that you yourself find, then your missing out on a lot of fun. Even though your out searching for new stuff, so are tons of other people and the fact is that you can’t find everything before other people do. Also, who cares if Stefan is living and skating in NYC now. Like I said before, new spots = new fun. Maybe he is bored of skating cali stuff and wants a change. What’s wrong with that?

Theorizer, the main difference between IPath “cheese” and Nike “cheese” is that IPath was started by a skateboarder for skateboarders and skateboarding. Nike, my fine feathered friend, was and is not. A fairly easy concept to wrap your mind around, but apparently your former “beliefs” have fallen to the wayside. This is a concept I have gone over, not only on this website, but with you in person, many times. But I appreciate your inquisitiveness. How was that Vice party?

I dont owe any sort of explanation to you or anybody else for that matter. Nor am I going to jump into your perpeptual hamster-wheel of hatred.
You can copy and paste the write-up on the back cover of “Static III” every day as far as I’m concerned. That video, and all Static videos, stay true to those words and ideals. The difference here is that you are all ego, you only see yourself in all things. You truly believe that you are an island. Where as Static is not me, and I know it. It is a collaboration of many many people. The product of the work and talents of skaters, filmers, motion graphics artists, the influence of other filmmakers and the input/help of countless friends. But when all is said and done, it’s produced with the integrity of the underground and independent side of skateboarding in mind and at it’s core. Hence that write-up on the back.
Now, as a freelancer, I am my own separate business entity. In the past year I’ve held a camera on shoots for countless different companies. ESPN, Vice, Red Bull, HBO, etc….I’m sure you’ve got the whole profile written down in your pocket for your next attack. But these companies aren’t getting access to Static. Nobody would even know or care that I was getting hired by them if you weren’t publicizing it every day to try to discredit me on my site.
So, essentially, we can all thank YOU for attaching my name to these companies and helping to promote them.
But I don’t care how it makes me look. If making myself look bad in the eyes of critics allows me to still be able to make videos and film with the people who I think need to be seen then it’s worth it. I’ve accepted that I have to take drastic measures in order to still be able to film skateboarding and make Static videos and to work with important brands like Traffic in the past and Hopps more recently.
I worked 60.5 hours this week. Yet I still went out filming 3 different nights with skaters, some for the next Static, some that were just friends who need to film and managed to skate once myself in between 2 different jobs.
Seriously, what else more can I do?

Theorizer hit the nail on the head for me right there in 302. I don’t think it is that people are intent on so called ’selling out’ but rather that they take part in projects that help them survive financially in order to enable them to keep doings things ‘true’ to skateboarding. I’m not saying this applies to everyone because there are people out there who do aspire to superstar athlete status. However, if you are working on projects connected to skateboarding and managing to stay out of a 9 to 5 office job and the profits of that work enable you to travel and document that which you do want to capture, then atleast in the end good things are derived in the process. The life of a skateboarder tends to hang in the state of a vey temporary balance. If one can further the existence of this somewhat temporary state then perhaps a compromise is necessary. That doesn’t mean one gives up there opinions, beliefs or feelings on any topic but rather they are interpreting the current environment and engaging it in such a way that they can continue do what they love in some form, rather than not at all. You don’t have to like all skateboarding, but the beauty of being an individual is that you can choose to focus on that which you personally favour.

I don’t even know why Theorizer is even explaining himself he is one of the illest people associated with the skateboard and a legend as far as i’m concerned he is not a sell out and does what he has to, to be true to the game hop off the mans sack.

300, that’s the most stinkingest pile of horseshit I’ve ever heard. You’re a filmer. Try filming a video part instead of holding a camera and maybe we’ll think about having a conversation about some of your skewed views. Menny Packer, your the worst type of sniffing and sidewalk shitting dog I know. Come live in NY dog, instead of running back to your little Mommy and Daddy in Florida after you do your spot raping and maybe we’ll talk. Theorizer, the problem with your talk is that you don’t actually film with the people who “need to be seen”. In fact, shit, I know for a fact how little you actually film, filmed and “provided a voice to the scenes and skaters who strive to keep street skating in the cities and streets where it belongs.” You see, what you do is you talk. And Static 3 and 3 alone (aside from Soy and Toddy) was an abomination to “scenes and skaters who strive to keep street skating in the cities and streets where it belongs.” It was a sham to claim that that is what those skaters actually do. You imported that talent and it was you that orchestrated that “video”. In fact, I would say that Static 3 was more a script or a screenplay rather than “real” street skating. Those skaters and you absolutely rode the backs of people who established that aesthetic and actually, in my opinion, stole, from the skaters who actually work to keep street skating alive. Coming to a city and spot raping and building a false aesthetic is not street skating. Dedicating yourself to a city’s streets and pulse is what true street skating is about. Filming a couple of out of town, spot raping dogs who dedicate little time to finding new spots or new ways to skate them is not street skating. On top of that, working for big corporations is fine as far as I’m concerned. Go ahead, get paid. Just don’t make that money by selling out skateboarding to those big corporations (and call it “drastic measure” for christ’s sake) after you’ve sold us your complete crock of bullshit about “pop culture exploitation swallowing skateboarding and corporate take overs stifling the “imagination” of popular skateboarding” when it is you, who instead of taking a different route to make your films and get around contributing to that beast, lay on your fat ass at a RedBull contest(while your “friends” are out street skating no less) and then accept money for it. That is called exploitation and selling out. In effect, a corporate cave-in. It’s lazy and abhorrent. So please, save us the tears and save us the bullshit. When’s the next Game of Skate get posted? I’m hungry.

It’s a kick in the face to people who don’t take corporate skate hand out’s for selling out their shit and exploiting skateboarding to those big corp’s and still manage to pop their shit off. So Luke, save it. Sorry homey, but really, save it. It’s called laziness. And being unimaginative. And it deserves absolutely no respect in skateboarding. Especially after making diatribes decrying it.

In response to 309, I hear your point and I see where you are coming from. However, where I live it is virtually impossible to live off skateboarding without engaging in the corporate side at all. If you guys can achieve that in the states then I say more power to you. I just know over here it doesn’t exist in any shape or form. The only way people even get hooked up is if the mall rats buy masses of stuff, salaries don’t even register on the radar. Correct me if I’m wrong but I pick up that you favour a more ‘purist’ form of skateboarding and I’m down for that, it just becomes really difficult for myself and people I know to achieve in reality and not for lack of trying by any means. Skateboarding has become incredibly ‘diluted’ in many aspects, but perhaps I’m a little naive in thinking that no matter how things get distorted, there will always be people who know and appreciate the ‘purist’ ideal. In that sense I can overlook all the bullshit.

317, It’s actually way more than just “skateboarding”. Wino, I’m not sure. If Timberland had given me some incentive to stay on IPath, maybe I would have. But they didn’t, so I suppose it doesn’t matter. I suppose you asking me that question is like me asking you if you would continue to wear Vans after Vans was sold to VF Corp. You know, I liked IPath. I liked what IPath was, why and how it was started and what it represented. On top of that, I liked the team and their shoes. Matt looked out for me. I was bummed to see him sell it. That said, IPath wasn’t mine. Again, Timberland gave me absolutely no incentive to sign their contract and I thought that was wack. The contract they gave me offered no raise, no prospect of a shoe or a raise(and this is mega-corp Timberland mind you), no health insurance, and at the time, “old IPath” actually still owed me a decent amount of back pay. The contract Timberland gave me also said that in signing this agreement, I would effectively forfeit all video footage and photographs to Timberland to use on and at their own accord. I asked them to renegotiate and they told me “no way”. They said, “sign that, or go fuck yourself.” Well, not exactly like that, but pretty much that. So realistically, there was absolutely no incentive at all for me to sign their contract, other than to just keep continuing what I was doing for the same amount of compensation, only this time for a mega-corp that had absolutely nothing to do with skateboarding, while at the same time having to endure the absolute horrific changes they made to the team and the brand. In essence, the inability of Timberland to recognize, facilitate, and compensate it’s bread and butter, in my opinion, along with the many other mistakes IPath made just before and after the sale of the brand to Timboland, mortally wounded IPath to the point that I’m not sure it can ever regain any strand of integrity or appeal it once may or may not have once had before the sale of the brand and after the changes it made after the sale. It’s horrible now. It’s ashame. But that’s the way it goes I suppose. But thanks for asking.

i was just going to leave this argument alone. an exchange of just 3 comments on this site with the towel left my guts feeling queasy. i felt almost ashamed of myself for wading through the mire of this websites dark side. mr towel, u truly must thrive on despair and hate. i mean how can u say such things about somebody who has been ur friend for so many years? how can u say such things about a video that had so much soul and style? i dont care what u think of pat steiner as a person (isnt he ur teammate by the way) but his part is undeniably amazing. and how the hell could u leave renauds part out of ur list? or nate broussard?
seriously folks, are u really letting this shit slide? u really think danny renaud would let somebody babysit him into making a part? the kid drinks his own urine. u obviously have a deep rooted hatred of josh stewart because theres no way an unbiased east coast skater would/could hate on renaud, brussard or steiners parts.
its funny that somebody who considers himself the official labeler of “dogs” puts so much time into dogging out his own friends. which is worse, someone who films on a spot thats not in his home town or somebody who tries to destroy his friends reputation on his own website?
yeah thats a tough call there.

Wow. I’ve posted two comments in this post, 1. Calling out Theorizer for not commenting on his own website and 2. Just confirming the fact that Rupp did nosegrind the same flat bar. I have no idea who did it first cause it happened over ten years ago and my comment wasn’t for your side or his. Just stating the fact that that footage does exist, cause you were claiming it didn’t. So now you’re attacking people who aren’t even in the argument. Who haven’t said shit to you, I’m sorry you feel that I’m the “Worst kind of dog”. I can’t tell you how many spots we didn’t film on out of respect to you cause they were “your spots”. Also if you’re claiming Josh had anything to do with the tricks in my part, You and I both know Josh has the most wacky ideas of what’s possible on a skateboard. I also plan on getting back to New York, permanently. As soon as i’m finished with School i’ll be there. Also I live with my girlfriend, not Mommy and Daddy. Thank you for thinking of me, I miss you too. See you soon!
Comment by PennyPacker # November 4, 2009 at 6:40 am
Yeah yeah yeah, blah blah blah. Now your fake positive guy? First your argument was that you claimed I was coming to London and stealing everybody’s shit. Now it’s that I’m a bad person for saying what I said in 306? Is the basis for your “new argument” that what I said in comment 306 is all false and that I’m a bad person for saying false shit? Or is your argument that I’m simply a bad person for saying what I said and people shouldn’t consider my viewpoint simply because I’m “hateful and motivated by despair”? I think I get it. Haven’t we heard this argument somewhere else on this website before? That said, please, I beg of you, clear this up for me. If the former is your new argument, please show us where I’m saying false things in comment 306. If it’s the latter, explain to us what led you to that conclusion. Also, If you claim that I thrive on despair and hate, please, explain to us what you thrive on? Is it love and goodwill? White doves and peace? You have absolutely reacted back with the same exact vigor and emotion that you claim me to be so repugnantly motivated by. But to you it’s all flowers and puppy dogs now, correct? I get it. A little change of heart in your style there, no? Mr. Positive guy now. I get it. Saving skateboarding by decrying the hateful and desperate Towel one comment at a time. Respectable. Listen, do me a favor and take your horseshit and go roll around on it somewhere else.
Again, I challenge you to tell me what I said that was so abhorrent and untrue? I’m telling you and everybody else what I think. I’m telling you based on my personal opinion and my personal experiences. Will you have the same opinion as me? Absolutely not. But to you that’s soo wrong now. And now that you’ve changed you’re tune to fake positive guy and defender of the faith, I’m a “baaaad dude”. And you would LOVE to have people believe that I’m a such bad dude. “Towel’s a bad person, everybody!!!”. “Listen to me, I’m Mr. Righteous!!!” “Don’t listen to him, he’s hateful and desperate.” Listen to me, here’s a flower!” You would love to have everybody think that I’m some shitty person, motivated by hate and despair so you can tidy up and consolidate your bullshit argument. Please, come off it. And you’re just a little angel with love and smily faces to share with us, correct? You don’t expect us to believe that bullshit again, do you? In case you’re wondering, we are both motivated by the exact same thing. It’s called ego, you retard. Learn that. It’s the absolute only reason why you even waste your time commenting on this website. And if you can’t realize that then I’m sorry about your entire existence. I think at this point we all see who and what type of person you are. You’re a coward. And the worst type of coward. You engage in these ridiculous ad hom attacks from behind your little Apple lap top, and concoct these absurd straw men attacks. First off, no one ever mentioned Renaud until YOU brought him up. So save me the wet mattress. If you really must know, I thought Danny didn’t need to be in Static 3. In fact I urged Stewart to keep him out. I thought that what Danny “needed” was to have his footage in a Stereo video. He absolutely needed to align himself back up with a brand that would support him. That’s what I thought would have been best for Danny and his footage. You also falsely said “I was hating on Renaud”. I never said that. Nor did I ever say his part or he was not a sick skateboarder. It’s that type of shit that discredits your fake good guy attitude and your new route of trying to dissect or discredit my argument. It’s called a “straw man”. You inject something false, and then tear it up in front of everyone so that you look as if your actually tackling an real issue. (The best is when you said “he drinks his own urine”. As if your suggesting that since he drinks his own urine, it makes him an outstanding skateboarder and that I owe him something. The dude is sick, no doubt. I loved his Mosaic part and in my mind, it’s one of the best video parts ever made. Unfortunately, the Static 3 part just doesn’t stand up to that part. I’m sorry, it’s just my opinion. But again, you brought it up, not me.) Secondly, as far as Nate’s concerned, I’ve seen him personally operate in front of my face. He has amazing talent, no doubt, but he absolutely thought he was to be handed spots. He did absolutely no work, and made no attempt to do a single thing for himself while he was here. So does he deserve my respect(not that that means anything) or do I owe him respect and praise just because Stewart held his hand around London, Tel Aviv, and NY or that he’s a “good” skateboarder? Absolutely not. So save me those tears as well.
But the best thing in all of your fake positive guy approach now is this talk of fake goodwill and love and shit. Shit like “a friend”, or “support” and “teammate”. Business associates, absolutely. Friends? Maybe, sure, why not? You know what it sounds like to me? It sounds like you don’t know what the difference is. It sounds like you believe people should just let people do whatever the fuck they want, whenever the fuck they want and lather them with praise and good intent and give them the benefit of the doubt just because they’re making a video or a video part and that you’re their so called “friend”. Well that’s not the way it works. Come off the bullshit. You don’t expect us to believe that, do you? Especially after all your “appalled” comments about the London spots?
As if you’d be psyched if someone took Corey Duffel to a spot you found and let homeboy chomp away on it? Come on. Like I said in 318, it’s way more than just “skateboarding”. There’s a lot more that goes into it. Shit, some people put food in their stomachs and a roof over their head off this shit. So to think that it’s just this free for all, and everyone should love and respect each other and not have an opinion or be able to talk about or call someone out on it on is total bullshit. This is business and a necessity for some that don’t depend on Mommy and Daddy to pay their rent and that live in the big bad city. Like in 320, you say they “support me”? How? Please, tell me how they “support me”? You mean financially? Or like they show me spots to film my video parts on? Come on homey. I provide at least 80%, if not more, of my own spots and my own aesthetic for my shit and I have always done so. So all this talk of “”friend”, “support” and “teammate” is bullshit you concocted in your head. These are all things you were lead to believe by the illusion of skateboard world buddy. That shit is bullshit. Believe me, I can tell you some pretty unbelievable and abhorrent shit about the way some of Static 3 went down. But at this point, I absolutely refuse to get bogged down with this bullshit debate any longer. So for the last time, tell me what I said that is not true in 306 and I will duly allow this to rest. Point out to me what I said that is false and I will hand you the Good Dude Award you so desperately desire to receive. All in all, you sound like a complete phony. Your arguments are totally see through and you flip flop like a wet seal who has a fishy dangling in front of his face by it’s trainer at Sea World. You’re a talker. A guy who “yeahs” people to death. A philanderer. Do me a favor, take your shtick on the road and sell it somewhere else. Your fake positive guy attitude is a crock of shit and it’s apparent to me at this point because it’s written all over the bullshit comments you leave. Have a decent night. Go Yankees.

Also, you don’t know if Theorizer isn’t commenting on his own website. So, you’re flat out callig every person’s part in Static III aside from Soy and Olly an abomination. Doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to deduce that Stiener, Manfre, Broussard and Renaud’s parts are being called an abomination in that statement. But then you follow that up with this “You also falsely said ‘I was hating on Renaud’. I never said that.”
Ummmm…have you ever been diagnosed with multiple personality disorder?
Comment by Theorizer # November 4, 2009 at 8:27 pm
Seriously, I’m concerned about you buddy. Because you contradict yourself over and over with your comments.
I’m sitting on over 2 and 1/2 minutes of new footage of you right now. How could that be so if I wasn’t filming? “Moving In Traffic” came out a year ago. Yet I’m sitting on all this new footage of you now. DId it magically appear as a result of you shaking your wizard beard 3 times?
I’m also doing a video for Ed Selego’s shop in Miami right now at the same time. I’ve spent 3 months of this year filming all day/every day in Miami. But I don’t film apparently? I suppose the nights I’ve spent out filming after getting out of work from the restaurant in NY didn’t happen either? The 2 months VIvien Feil has spent in NY filming with me didn’t happen either?
Yeah you’re right….comment 306 didn’t have a single lie or mistruth in it whatsoever.

First off, three nights 6 months ago doesn’t count.(but it sure SOUNDS good. Well call that “The Steiner Effect”) Secondly, you haven’t been “at the restaurant” in nearly 3 months. Plus you work there 2 days a week. Instead your out selling out skateboarding to clients like HBO, Redbull, ESPN and Vice. Let that be known. You sure know how to paint a picture, but let’s just say I’m here to curate the collection. Good try. Funny cartoon.

Go Yankees.
you wrote all that shit
is this what you do then your sitting in your room or something bobby

Think about the amount of time youve all been typing and not skating.
Think about not defining skateboarding.
Think about not hiding behind user names.
