The Garrison Tapes

Jim Garrison, former New Orleans district attorney is the first and only person ever to bring a trial in the murder of president John F. Kennedy. The story of his investigation and trial are one of the most revealing glimpses into the true nature of the United States government in the 20th century. The Jim Marrs book “Crossfire” goes into serious depth into this case and the Oliver Stone film “JFK” from 1991 was based completely around Jim’s story.
But I found a documentary online recently that includes interviews with actual witnesses in Jim’s case and in depth discussions with Mr. Garrison himself. It’s definitely a must-watch for those fascinated with this case. The Invasion on dvd

Dopplegangers: Part one

This game can get pretty brutal if you let it. But I figured we’d start off civilized with part one. Skating downtown Manhattan last year, we ran into one of the best dopplegangers I’ve seen in some time. Thankfully he let us take a photo. Any guesses? This one’s actually way too easy.

Time Machine #11: Kenny Anderson

A mix of Kenny Anderson footage all predating Y2K. That means this is all 10 years old. Remind yourself of that fact as you watch this footage and then reflect on how much you suck on a skateboard compared to this dude

Mystery of The Month: The Man Who Invented the 20th Century

What happened to Nikola Tesla?
The story of Nikola Tesla is a classic tale of a brilliant man, light years ahead of his time taken advantage of by the “great” men of his age. Accredited posthumously with inventing the radio, alternating current, the Tesla Coil, wireless technology, pioneering the field of robotics and partical beam weaponry to name a few, by the time of his death Tesla had acquired 300 patents for his inventions.
(Click the image above to hear a great radio show about Tesla)
As incredible as the story of Nikola’s scientific achievements are, they pale in comparison to the curious tales surrounding his bizarre personality, his strange visions, and, most astounding of all, his discovery of a possibly limitless free energy from within our own atmosphere. It is obvious that his belief in the betterment of mankind and the planet are what kept him broke for most of his life. But it is also likely that his push to provide humanity with a free, limitless source of energy is what brought him to his ultimate demise.

Book Club: "Supernatural" by Graham Hancock

Graham Hancock has been blessing our eyes and brains with incredible new ways to see the history of mankind for over a decade now. But his newest book, Supernatural, ventures into a whole other world altogether. Beginning with an in-depth exploration into the cave paintings that were mankind’s first demonstration of artistic expression and religious ponderings, Graham is led deep into the rabbit’s hole of the collective consciousness of humanity.

Book of Broken Dreams: Part 3

Some photos get printed but slip through the cracks, some disappear while at the magazine and some just get flat out denied. It’s time for another gander into my book of ancient skate photos that have been long forgotten, the book of broken dreams. Let’s see who we stumble onto today:
1. A fixture in the DC skate scene for well over a decade, this photo of Paul Macelroy from 1998 never made it onto the pages of a magazine, but I believe the footage was in Static.
2. Allen Russell was holding the Tampa scene down back in the day and managed to get a crack at this dope spot at a federal building in early 2001, just before the Sept 11th terrorist nonsense made skating it impossible.
3. And by special request during the last Book of Broken Dreams comes this photo of Nate Jones in Miami which ran in a 1999 issue of the now-deceased “Warp” magazine. They actually never sent me back the best slide from this shoot, so we’re left with this see-through image 10 years later.

The Book of Broken Dreams 2

Well, after getting shredded like a secret White House document with the last version of this post. I figured I’d give it another try. Maybe I just started with a bad batch? Shit if I know.
Anyways, here we go again. Hold onto your computer chairs.
1. Nate Jones-Backside tails in Miami (circa 1999)
2. Brandon Biebel-Frontside heels at Pulaski Park, Wash DC (circa 1999)
