REMIX!

Alright, here we go. All aboard the technical-difficulties train! I’m sure we’re going to run into countless problems during this process, but let’s see how it goes. I’ve uploaded every clip from Pat Stiener’s part from Static III; the DV skate clips, 16mm drama shots and, for the brave, I even uploaded the HD clips used for his roller-door intro. All of this media amounts to nearly 4 Gigs of footage. That is some serious download time right there. So what I did is uploaded 6 separate folders so that the footage is split up and not everybody will be downloading the same file at the same time….hopefully.
So, simply click on each of these links to download the media. I suggest going one at a time because they’re each massive folders that’ll take a while to download.
-NY and London Footage
-Florida Footage
-Louisville and Tennessee Footage
-HD Footage
-16mm Footage A
-16mm Footage B

You can purchase Pat’s White Flight song “Now” off of the itunes site, or you can buy the CD off of Amazon. Hook the band up, they’re amazing. Or mix it up with a new song of your own.
As people begin to finish remixes I’ll have you send them to me to host on the Theories site or you can link me to your edit posted on Youtube, etc. I’d prefer that they were hosted exclusively on Theories, but I can’t really control that now, can I? Once I’ve got enough, I’ll choose the best ones and post them all together and we’ll read the comments to see who’s gathers the most fans.
Good luck everybody, this is going to be an interesting ride.

Coming to an internet near you….

The “Remix” feature begins tomorrow.
I’m currently uploading all the media from a certain Static III skater’s part….DV skate clips, alternate angles, 16mm art shots and the HD clips used to create his roller-door intro. This will all be available for download starting tomorrow evening at 5pm EST. Once you’ve gotten all the clips downloaded, you’re invited to remix the skater’s part into your own style or angle. Once you’re finished I’m hoping that you’ll either send me a Quicktime of the edit via Yousendit.com or another file-sharing site, or send me a link to an already uploaded version. Then we’ll post all the edits in a future post and see what people think.

There's still hope…

I may cry myself to sleep every night mourning the death of the independent skate video, but this year actually promises to be very impressive for the indy scene.

1. As I’ve mentioned several times, Joe Perrin has a pretty amazing line-up arranged for us with Last Of The Mohicans Sleepless in Seattle buy , premiering in Tampa on June 19th.

2. A bit lesser known filmmaker from New Jersey named Justin White has been working on a new project that I’m really excited to see and we ran a trailer for at our NY “Static III” premiere. New Thirsty will be premiering in mid-to-late July….I’ll keep you posted as a final date arrives.

3. Chris Mulhern of “I’d Rather Skate Cecil” and “Few And Far Between” fame is working on what is looking to be his best video to date. Chris has been travelling like crazy and filming extensively with skaters from Philly, NY, Ohio, and London. I don’t know his release date yet, but stay tuned and I’ll keep you posted.

4. I just found out last night that this video is in the works and it’s got me seriously hyped. It is going to kill it, I promise you.
Lev and the Palace Waywards have the funniest website on the shitnet and they’ve finally amassed enough footy to get an actual video in the works. Southbank pirate shennanigans and London skate shred carnage.

I think the Alien Workshop video is going to be pretty amazing but I am literally more excited to see the indy videos listed above. I can guarantee that each of them is going to be amazing so please keep your eyes and ears open and support these mugs with your weak monopoly-money dollars.

Brookings is cooking….

The Brookings Institution is a “think tank” based around studying and developing foreign and domestic US policy. They make recommendations to lawmakers and the US, UK, Japanese and other governments in an effort to influence policy. They have great influence in a similar respect to the Council On Foreign Relations. All in all these think tanks are bizarre just in their very existence alone and Brookings in 2007 claimed their assets at $258 million thanks to donations by the US, UK, and Japanese governments as well as such benefactors as the Carnegie Foundation. Now, a certain Brookings report, suspected to have been published in the early 60’s was thought to be just rumor for decades. Until nearly 30 years later the actual document was unearthed by independent researchers and an actual copy of the several hundred page document was recovered in the Federal Archive in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The report was prepared specifically for NASA and it’s title “Proposed Studies On The Implications of Peaceful Space Activities For Human Affairs” is a mouthful for sure.
Street Warrior divx
Basically, this document seemed to set the policy for all of NASA upon it’s publication. The key message garnered from this 300 page document was that if NASA was to discover proof of extraterrestrial life or alien life forms, that humanity would not be ready for it and announcement of such facts would plunge civilization into havoc. It specifically sites the “War of The Worlds” scenario that gruesomely played out after Orson Welles’ radio show convinced his listeners that aliens had landed on earth and had begun an attack. It proposed that if the world was to be prepared and readied for the revelation of extraterrestrial life, it would have to be in a very slow incrimentalized fashion over a period of decades. As small announcements are made throughout time that would give people comfort and normalize their acceptance of the possibility of life beyond earth, the people would eventually become ready for the truth.
I’m telling you this story today because I opened up my Yahoo browser page this morning and THIS was staring me in the face.

Randomness

I’m out of town in Florida right now finishing up yet another Red Bull job. Yes, “The Towel”, Red Bull. Got to visit my family a little bit and get a little break from the hipster scene in Brooklyn. It’s getting outta control out there in case you haven’t noticed what the kids are wearing these days.
Looks like the fight is over and “JG” is down for the count. Sorry mate, but “The Towel” is an angry but often smart bastard.

Just finished “Dark Mission” today, in case any of you cyber-geeks wanna try and debate me.
I’ll be back soon but in the meantime you should melt your brains with the bizarre work of Jake Kotze. This will probably convince you all of my lack of sanity, but with the proper explanation and/or research into this dude’s ideas and theories, you may just find yourself as obsessed with his proposals as I am. Synchromysticism mofuckers!
Alright, I’m out. Later losers.

Bad luck Jack….

Jack Sabback has been serious bad luck for me lately. Tonight he called my cell phone (which I’ve learned to never answer when driving a car in New York) but it slipped my mind and just as our conversation came to a close there sat the fuzz behind me with lights flashing. $90 ticket later I’m cursing Jack’s name. As if that isn’t bad enough, I rolled my ankle a few weeks ago playing him in a game of S.K.A.T.E., although I had insisted I needed some more warm-up time that day. And to throw icing on an already cursed cake, a week later, just as my ankle is starting to feel like it was healing he somehow ends up sealing the deal with an aerial assault and fully Blitzkreiged the bajesus outta my ankle The Narrow Margin movie …….I haven’t been able to skate since.

Come check me out….

It’s supposed to be Debbie Downer outside today…so you might as well head out to the Brooklyn Public Library and come see me lecture fools today at 4pm.
Somehow the Brooklyn Public Library invited me to do a sort of filmmakers-forum presentation. I’ll give a short presentation introducing myself and discussing independent guerilla filmmaking. We’ll then screen Static III in it’s entirety and I’ll follow it up with a question and answer period. I’ll also show some never-before-seen alternate edits to a select few parts to demonstrate the process of editing and picking music that fits a skater’s personality, etc. It should be pretty interesting to come see me make a fool of myself and who knows….maybe The Towel will show up to heckle me. Click here for details.
