Ok, ok…”summer 2007″ doesn’t really give people a reliable date to count on, I know.
But it’s a terrifying world out there in the skate-video market this fall.
Not only do we have to fear that great white whale of the Lakai video, but the goddamned Habitat and Nike videos are premiering in late October. What’s a guy to do?
Well, nothing’s official, but just to stop being vague and annoying about it I should tell you all that were leaning toward an 85% chance of premiering STATIC III around the weekend of September 21st. Give or take a day or two. Or a week. Don’t hate or I’ll send this kid to your skatespot…SUPER-POWERS!!

Ya know, I had planned for next time I saw skateboarding in a music video or TV commercial to hang myself from the cieling fan with the television cord (not sure how that’d work)….but then I saw this. And you have to give it a pass. Shit, you have to give it a hand actually. This is an RJD2 video featuring artist Bill Shannon, born with a congenital hip defect but not letting it stop him from frontside wallriding.

Ok, it’s more like the UNholy grail, depending on your frame of reference. But holy CRAP!
This film pretty much hits home runs in every department.
Christianity, 9/11 and international banking.
If you watch one film on these controversial subjects this is the one.
Behold!….Zeitgeist.
(the first few minutes are bizarre, but just endure it you impatient bastards!)

It’s interesting how much different a city can seem when you actually look up instead of down.
Maybe in a city like my hometown of Tampa this isn’t very exciting, but any city with history can really tell some interesting stories just by the symbols you can find on roofs and hidden in the architecture. I was walking around Manhattan with a good friend of mine the other day and noticing all the creepy symbology you’d never know was looking down on you from above. Aside from the 8 million cameras watching our every move we noticed dozens of masonic symbols in the random century-old buildings throughout the city. The most common being the owl god named Moluk, worshipped by Illuminati esoterics throughout history, which could be observed perched on the corners of buildings and within ornate stone patterns throughtout the city. It’s a really bizarre thing to discover. Then I saw this little article on Yahoo news today that is pretty intriguing. And now I’m saving up some time to sit back and watch this little gem.

Not many people these days probably know about Paul Urich. He was a North Carolina mini-ramp shredder who moved to Tampa in the mid ’90s. We started randomly going out filming street skating around ‘97 and his unique style immediately made me a fan. Here is a bunch of low-quailty Hi-8 footage that never got used in anything. I dug up off some old VHS mixtapes I found in my house in Tampa. There’re a couple guest appearances by Mike Daher and Allen Russell. There’s so much more footage on these tapes from this era. This is right at the advent of the digital camera and as digital became the standard years worth of Hi-8 footage immediately became unuseable. More to come soon but hopefully you’ll enjoy this little glimpse back in time to Tampa, circa 1997-98.

So I dug up some more old Hi-8 tapes from the vaults. Actually, these tapes were in a shoebox…not very vault-like. There’s hours of footage on these tapes from a 1996 Tour Machine tour. Some really sick stuff. But Jesus, there’s so much it’ll take a while to get it all digitized. So here’s a Random line of Barley that’s pretty ape-nuts to buy me some time….I think this was somewhere in Colorado.

I first saw this documentary almost 2 years ago, but I recently stumbled by this clip again and realized most people probably haven’t seen it. It’s like watching a trainwreck, then a survivor walks out of the rubble only to be kicked in the balls by Bill O’Reilly. Amazing.
Here’s the uninterrupted interview in it’s entirety.
And here’s another interesting clip from the Fox News documentary.

Thanks to PennyPacker for directing me to this clip.
Michael Moore threw CNN into the shredder on live TV last week. It was a beautiful thing to watch and then it just gets painful. The best part is the last 4 seconds when Lou Dobbs chimes in with his unbelievable comment. But his makeup looks fantastic.
